EXPORT ACCELERATION MISSION TO SENEGAL

INTRODUCTION

Republic of Senegal has a population of around 15 million and over 94% of the population is Muslim. Although Senegal’s domestic market is relatively small, there are already products from Thailand and Vietnam in the local market. Local Senegalese businessmen are keen to do business with Malaysians and have visited our Malaysian Embassy in Dakar to look for business contacts. Therefore, Malaysian products and services stand a good chance in creating strong presence and branding. Good business opportunities remain an excellent choice for companies interested to penetrate into markets of other Western African countries in the region.

As one of Africa’s most politically and economically stable and safe country, Senegal could also be used as a base to penetrate into other Francophone Countries and The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Malaysia and Senegal have good diplomatic relation and both citizens are free to travel to each other’s country. No visa is needed for Malaysians to enter Senegal; likewise no visa is needed for Senegalese to entre Malaysia.
